THEO

THEO founded in Seoul in 2020, is a contemporary art gallery committed to diversity and a sustainable artistic ecosystem. Led by directors with experience in the UK and US, the gallery supports experimental practices across painting, sculpture, photography, video, and new media, exploring new directions for Korean contemporary art.

THEO’s program is informed by postmodern and post-conceptual developments, focusing on materiality, digital culture, and identity within today’s expanded field. Through collaborations with institutions, galleries, and international fairs, THEO introduces Korean artists abroad while bringing global artists to audiences in Korea and Asia.

In 2025, the gallery established a Jakarta branch to strengthen its regional network in Southeast Asia. THEO continues to build an artist-centered, globally engaged model within an evolving contemporary art landscape.

THEO는 2020년 서울에서 설립된 동시대 미술 갤러리로, 다양성과 지속 가능한 예술 생태계의 구축을 지향하고 있습니다. 영국과 미국에서의 경험을 바탕으로 한 디렉터진이 운영하는 THEO는 회화, 조각, 사진, 영상, 뉴미디어 등 다양한 매체 전반에 걸친 실험적 예술 실천을 지원하며, 한국 동시대 미술의 새로운 방향을 모색하고 있습니다.

THEO의 프로그램은 포스트모던 및 포스트-개념미술의 흐름을 기반으로, 오늘날 확장된 예술 환경 속에서 물질성, 디지털 문화, 그리고 정체성에 대한 탐구를 주요한 주제로 삼고 있습니다. 또한 기관, 갤러리, 국제 아트페어와의 협업을 통해 한국 작가들을 해외에 소개하는 한편, 글로벌 작가들의 작업을 한국 및 아시아 관객과 연결하는 역할을 수행하고 있습니다.

2025년에는 동남아시아 지역 네트워크 강화를 위해 자카르타 지점을 설립하였으며, 이를 통해 지역성과 국제성이 교차하는 보다 입체적인 활동을 전개하고 있습니다. THEO는 변화하는 동시대 미술 환경 속에서 작가 중심의 가치와 국제적 연결성을 기반으로 한 갤러리 모델을 지속적으로 구축해 나가고 있습니다.
