MERRY GO-ROUND

Seungyeon Moon and Diren Lee’s works talk about the time to discover ‘me’ through each person’s own metaphor. Seungyeon Moon is a portrait that records the most beautiful moment of discovering the true self that is latent inside, and Diren Lee’s ‘I’ is a story of the process of facing reality and slowly maturing.
It is a work that is distinctly different in terms of color, form, and gaze, but I want to give comfort to ‘I’ who sees the work through the commonality of the two artits’ allegorical worldview and pictorial form.
This exhibition 《 Merry-go-round 》, which shows the contact point of the two artists in one space, contains the time to discover ‘my story’ through the two artists. I missed it for a while, but we will meet again, and those times of waiting and excitement may be the time needed in this era.
Although we are going through an era of loss in which we lose ourselves through our suddenly changed daily life or through relationships, we will face the scenery of spring as if we are waiting for the scenery of spring to come back again. I hope to meet you through the works of
문승연 작가와 디렌리 작가의 작품은 각자만의 메타포를 통해 ‘나’를 발견하는 시간을 이야기한다. 문승연 작가는 내면 속 잠재되어 있는 진정한 자신의 모습을 발견하는 가장 아름다운 순간을 기록한 초상화이며, 디렌리 작가의 ‘나’는 현실을 마주하고 천천히 성숙해가는 과정의 이야기이다.
색감, 형태, 시선 등 극명히 다른 작품이지만 우화적 세계관과 회화적 형식을 두 작가의 공통점 통해 작품을 바라보는 ‘나’에게 위로를 건네고자 한다.
하나의 공간에서 두 작가의 접점을 보여주는 이번 전시 《 Merry-go-round 》는 두 작가를 통해 ‘나의 이야기’를 발견하기 위한 시간을 담고 있다. 순간의 풍경을 잠시 놓쳤지만, 우리는 다시 마주치게 될 것이고, 그 기다림과 설렌 시간들은 지금 시대에 필요한 여유일지도 모른다.
갑작스럽게 변해버린 일상을 통해 혹은 관계를 통해 스스로를 잃어가는 상실의 시대를 겪고 있지만, 다시 돌아오는 봄의 풍경의 기다리듯 우리는 봄을 풍경을 마주할 할것이며, ‘나’의 모습을 두 작가의 작품을 통해 마주하길 바란다.
